I am someone who makes a spreadsheet and does hours of research for any decent sized purchase. I’ve been using my expandable Longchamp as a personal item for the last 5 years, and while it’s an amazing bag and still looks brand-new, it’s been increasingly difficult to take it on planes due to the lack of trolley sleeve and organization. I probably compared 20 different personal item bags, mainly duffels and totes, before I came across the Bento Bag. I watched dozens of reviews of this bag and I really thought it was too good to be true. Then I received it. I tested it with so many different packs and it was everything I’d hoped for and then some. I’m currently using it as my personal item in Japan, and it has doubled as an overnight bag for when we do luggage forwarding. It’s definitely easier to travel with on top of my carry-on, but the crossbody strap makes it a little easier to carry when I don’t have my suitcase. It fits the perfect amount of stuff and the firm shape helps avoid bulkiness. I love that everything I need is right at my fingertips. I didn’t know what I was missing til I had it, and now there’s no going back. I’ve already convinced 2 other people to get this bag. If you’re on the fence, please trust in the hours of research I did and take the plunge.
Great bag, good space and so attractive!
This bag looks beautiful, it’s durable, easily slides onto the handle of my carry on, so many organizers and pockets to put things. They utilized every inch of space in this design and I couldn’t be happier. We travel often and I’m so thrilled to have found this bag. Highly recommend!!!!

We recently got new luggage to replace luggage that had begun to have issues after many years of travel. I needed a personal item bag to use with my new carryon. After much research, I selected the Bento Bag. I'm really looking forward to me next trip! One of the things I needed in a personal item was the ability to take my laptop (not a MacBook) and optionally my iPad. I also needed one that would meet the dimension requirements for international flight.
I have just received my v4 Bento Bag and although I haven't had a chance to use it on a trip yet, I can see how functional, well-made and pretty it is! (I got the blue one.) I love all of the features. It's great that it can open up like a clamshell suitcase, and yet you can take out your laptop or iPad without opening the bag suitcase-style. I look forward to traveling with this bag!
