I bought two under seat carry on’s around the same time that are both the same height and width and depth. Both have zippers compartments, one of which holds a laptop. But that’s where the similarity stops. The Bento box keeps its shape and holds WAY more than the other bag. The other bag doesn’t have the smart compartments that the Bento bag has and it doesn’t flop around making it hard to find anything in it because I’m fumbling with the material that gets all bunched up. I liked it so much that I bought a second one just to use as my work bag. Love the colors too. The purple goes with my roller boards.
This is such a well-designed bag. The light color interior, so I don't lose anything. The strong zippers. The size and shape, just right. I got my laptop, iPad mini, Kindle and another notebook in there, along with a change of clothes, pjs, and shoes. And, dare I say it, it's elegant. I think my favorite feature is that there are compartments for tech accessories and lotions, with perfectly sized bags that hold a surprising amount, and that those compartments are easily accessible. It makes me feel so organized when travel can be chaotic.
I do feel wonderful carrying this bag. It is so organized I feel like pro traveler! I am a very organized person so when I travel if I'm not organized the whole trip is off to a bad start. I love the fact this bag opens like a suitcase. I looked everywhere for a cheaper bag but gave up and bit the bullet. I am so glad I did. I actually took it to work to show my co-workers especially the ones that are like me and live and live to travel.
Love the quick access zipper for my laptop and Kindle and also the little pocket to stash my phone after going through TSA. So glad I bought this.
I had a 2 week long trip to Europe planned in the summer and wanted a smaller purse than I had been carrying. I came across Nomad Lane and the Tomodachi Sling and selected the large in the color Dusk. It's pretty, made of sturdy fabric that is well stitched together and thoughtfully designed. I was able to carry everything I needed to in it and still was able to pop in a few little things as I explored the countryside. (I kept my passport and cash on my body under my clothing for safety.)
I was able to pack my Tomodachi Sling inside my suitcase, which I carried on, and used my Bento Bag as my personal item while flying, then when I got to my destination I put my things in my Tomodachi Sling to use as my everyday purse. It wasn't uncomfortable to wear and served me well. I look forward to many adventures with it!
I have the Bento Bag (which I LOVE) and use for big trips. For my 2-3 day trips or week long trips, this bag is PERFECT. it holds so much but the important part for me is all the organization. Being organized is critical when traveling and this bag couldn’t be more perfect. I will have this (and use this) forever! Another AMAZING Nomad Lane bag.
I bought the first version and loved it, but it was a bit too small. Once my laptop was inside, it was hard to open the bag or reach anything else. This new version fixed all those issues — I can easily access every compartment even with my laptop in the bag. I use it every day and always get compliments on it.
I was hesitant to order the Bento Bag because of price, but I eventually did. It’s got beautiful construction and will
Last many years. The two things that made me end up returning the bag were as follows: it seemed like it would be too heavy to carry loaded, or crossbody. Thankfully it has a great strap to go atop a suitcase, but there are times I may not have that option. The other reason was that the top two zipper compartments that hold the included pouches are great to use, but it does cut into space in that half of the bag. It’s a wonderful bag, I just decided it wasn’t the right one for me. A backpack works best for my needs and when I loaded the same stuff into bento bag or my Away backpack, the space was similar.
This is a beautiful and most functional travel bag. It’s the perfect size, beautiful color, easy to clean, each compartment holds a good amount of clothes, personal items for a few days.
I’m really enjoying the bento bag. The color is stunning and all the hidden compartments makes retrieving items easy. The size is perfect for fitting under the seat or storing overhead. I only wish the new verde color came out prior to my purchase. However you can’t go wrong with any of the color choices. I will be traveling a lot and this bag will get a lot of mileage.
Ok love the bag and Dawn color is beautiful. Kept me very organized on long haul flight. It's a great size and zippers are strong. Only draw back is the bag is heavy when packed. Love the ability to carry cross body. I would purchase it again. Worth the $
I travel a lot, A LOT, and I have tried dozens of personal bags to find the right one. When Nomad Lane decided to go bigger on the origami tote, it was an instant “yes” for me. I have almost all of their products and consistently reach for the origami tote in black. Now it’s bigger and in a beautiful light pink color, worth every penny!
Exceeds expectations. I love it. I can't believe how much room there is and I didn't find it too heavy to carry.....but there was room for more.
I love it! I have tried a few small bags and find them either too small or not useful. This bag is wonderful. Holds what I need in an organized manner.
Best bag ever! Fits under the seat, and you can access everything from the top of the sections so it is easy to get at your things, which is great on a long flight. I can pack a ton of stuff and yet it is all organized. Will not travel without my bento bag!
Well made sling, lightweight and comfortable. Very happy with my purchase.
Light weight, spacious and functional for work and travel. Has lots of pockets to stay organize.. Shoulder straps are comfortable. Enjoyed using the backpack for the past month.
Love the design and quality feel of the Bento Bag. All totes, and cubes are so well made. Wonderful product and will recommend highly!
Not only is the Bento bag lovely, it is a game changer for your personal item for travel, especially flying when space is at a premium. We learned about this bag when seeing it on a travel video and it’s perfect. There are instructions on how best to optimize your packing. There were some beautiful colors to choose from and ultimately I chose black since it was readily in stock. The inside is light colored so you can view easily. We haven’t traveled as much over the past few years and this bag is so inspiring. Looking forward to more travel with this beauty!
I just returned from a trip to Peru and this bag held more than I needed for the flights and enough essentials to cover me if all my other bags were lost. I love how organized it is with all the compartments and it's easy to access what I need in flight. It fit upright under the seat in front of me on my Alaska flights but had to be laid on it's side to fit under the seat on the Latam flights.
I was able to take a significant amount of toiletries in the toiletry bag as well as all the cables and charger I needed in the tech pouch. I had a complete change of clothes as well as PJ's and a couple changes of underwear, and an extra layering shirt. I had my iPad, snacks, a small cross-body purse filled with small essentials, sunglasses, a blow-up seat cushion, headphones, and a second wallet hidden under the tech pocket. Most importantly, the bag easily fits my specialized medication, infusion pump, and travel sharps container.
It was a heavy bag once it was all packed but the shoulder strap used cross body worked well when needed. Most of the time I simply used the bag on top of my carryon suitcase.
The Dusk color is also beautiful.
My daughter told me I needed to get a Nomad Bento bag for my trip to Japan. It fits perfectly on top of my carry on suitcase. So easy to maneuver. I spent some time organizing my belongings in the bag. It is so easy to locate everything quickly. I especially like the small bag that fits my device charger and cords. I would highly recommend this bag for everyone who travels!
I was looking for an under-the-seat carryon, and I kept seeing this one advertised but didn't love the price. Finally, I saw that some colors were on sale, so I broke down and bought one in pine green. I don't love the color, but whatever. I do LOVE how organized it kept things and how easy it was to find things. I feel like with other bags I'm always digging around for pens or my charger or wallet, but this kept things so organized and within reach. It held several days worth of clothes, too. The only thing I didn't love is the water bottle pocket. My bottle kept falling out so it was of no real use to me. Not perfect, but the best bag I've found for carryon travel! I'd give it 4.5 if I could.
This week I had an overnight business trip and put the Bento Bag to the test. Surprisingly, this small bag can hold more than I expected. It was nice to just carry it over my shoulder and not have to wheel around a carry-on suitcase through the airport. It seems we'll made and looks professional (I got it in black). "Bento" is my new travel buddy for work and weekend get-aways.
I've now used my Bento Bag for quite a bit of travel, including a long-haul international trip on United and Lufthansa. Overall, the bag is great. It's a little tight under the seat and I had to lay it on its side to fit, but it still fit. The water bottle holder is not quite deep enough for a skinny 24 oz bottle. My bottle fell out a couple of times while walking around with it. There is also already a small tear in the netting for the water bottle holder. I'm not sure how or when that would've happened, but unfortunately it didn't take much to tear it. Last, I have a rather large laptop and it barely fits. I end up having to put it in the back pocket (not the padded laptop pocket) so that it will fit.
